New Turf Field!

We are so excited to announce that beginning Monday July 3rd through August 31st, the WUHSD Track and Sports Complex will be closed to start the removal efforts of the grass field and then installation our new artificial turf field, which will include long jump pits and new discus ring.

We held off until last minute to make this announcement as we were not sure all the necessary permitting steps would be in place prior to the fall sports season.  We have been considering this decision for quite a while and we have been diligently working with our financial and facility advisors to ensure we are making the best fiscal decisions for our District.

Installing the turf field is an expensive project; however, this project will qualify for 100% reimbursement from the state for hard construction costs through our state modernization funds that we are eligible to apply for. Thank you for King Consulting for always looking out for us!

We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause by having to close the track for the months of July and August, but the rewards for our students, and our future students, will be so worth it.

Bonuses: this will also allow dry fields for all of our PE classes and ALL sports teams to use during their seasons when the rain keeps them from being able to practice on the fields. Also, we will eventually be able to add lacrosse to our sports offerings.

Pictures:

Final rendering of the field is the photo with the white lettering and the pirate without the boat.

The blue track and field areas in the D-Zones will be completed as shown in the 2nd picture.

The 2nd picture also shows the track in blue.  When our track has to be resurfaced it will be done so in this way.

Lots of great things happening!

It’s a great day to be a pirate!
