California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)All California public school students are required by state law to satisfy the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) requirement, as well as all other state and local requirements, in order to receive a high school diploma. All students, including English learners and students with disabilities, must take the CAHSEE for the first time in grade ten. Students who do not pass the exam in tenth grade will have additional opportunities in grades eleven and twelve to retake the part(s) not passed. Students who do not pass either, or both, portion(s) of the CAHSEE will be enrolled in the appropriate CAHSEE preparatory class for the 2007-08 fall semester. These courses will take preference over a student’s selected electives. In addition, please realize that students will also be required to take their required math and English courses, so conceivably students could be taking two math and/or two English courses. Seniors and Juniors who have not passed one or both parts of the exam and Sophomores who were absent for the February administration will take the CAHSEE on the following dates during regular school hours:
For more information regarding the CAHSEE, please visit the California Department of Education website. If you have any further questions about the CAHSEE, please contact the Guidance Office during regular school hours at (530) 633-3100.
