Dress Code

Wheatland Union High School encourages students to dress to maintain a respectable appearance.  Students are to attend school dressed in a respectful manner so as not to offend or disrupt student learning. Please look at the following dress code parameters and make sure your son or daughter has read and understands all of the restrictions.

bulletFirst offense – Student will be required to change out of the inappropriate clothing.  Parents may be called to either bring a change of clothes or to authorize the student to go home to change.  Students repeatedly violating the dress code will be subject to the following disciplinary procedures.
bulletSecond offense – Saturday school (4 hours)
bulletThird offense – One day suspension
bulletFourth offense – Three day suspension

 

1. Clothing, jewelry, and body markings must be free of writing, pictures, or any other insignia which is crude, vulgar, profane, sexually suggestive or which advocates racial, ethnic, sexual preference, or religious prejudice, or the use of alcohol or drugs.

 

2. The following are prohibited:

Any apparel, jewelry, accessory, notebook, personal belongings or manner of grooming which, by virtue of its color, arrangement, trademark, or other attribute, denotes membership in gangs or other groups which advocate drug or alcohol use, violence or disruptive behavior, is prohibited.

 

3. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal all undergarments at all times.  The following are prohibited:
bulletMuscle shirts (“beaters”)
bulletBare midriffs
bulletCleavage
bulletSkirts or shorts shorter than midway between the hip and the knee (including skirt slits). Shorts must have a minimum of 4" inseam.
bulletShirts without straps that go over each shoulder and attach to garment on other end.
bulletInappropriately open backs
bulletSpaghetti straps
bulletTank tops with less than 1” width straps
bulletPajamas or sleepwear
bulletSlippers
bulletSaggy pants. Underwear may not be exposed. This includes boxers, sports bras, bras and tank-top style undershirts.

Hats, caps, or other headgear must not be worn in the classroom.

 

5. Rule of Thumb.  Maintain a clean, neat appearance.
