Job Posting: Olivehurst Pool needs lifeguards this summer. At least 10 lifeguards are needed. Interviews have already begun so apply right away. You do not need to be certified. OPUD will be willing to offer a "scholarship" type of assistance to certify those which are hired. You do not have to be an extremely strong swimmer. As a prerequisite you would be required to lift a 10 pound brick off the bottom of the pool and be able to demonstrate three strokes, as well as swim 300 yards. You also would need to have excellent attention spans, due to the nature of the job. Applications are available in the Main Office. Any questions, call Sandy Cariker at 530-315-1008. Seniors: Grad Night is soon approaching (Graduation Evening – Friday, June 6th from 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.). Pay your $50.00 admission fee soon to Mrs. Embree in the main office. We only have four students signed up & paid for so far. The deadline is Friday, May 30th. This year Grad Night will be held @ Nu Generations Bowling Alley in Yuba City. Check in is from 10:00pm – 11:00pm. This is a lock down so the only way that you can leave grad night early is with verbal parent permission. This safe & sober graduation party will be filled with food, drinks, bowling, games, cash, prizes, & much more. Buy your bid now. (WHS Grad Night Committee) Any questions see Mrs. Embree!! Everyone: FFA is having a National Convention Pizza Fundraiser – Cheese & one topping pizza’s are $10.00, a two topping $11.00 and a combo for $12.00. To order your pizza(s) please contact Mr. Magill prior to Friday, May 9th. The pizzas may be picked up on May 16th & 17th. FFA: The Wheatland FFA will be having a Pre-Mother’s Day Social Dinner at Pioneer Hall in Wheatland on Friday, May 9th, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. $15.00 a plate, $13.00 for seniors, and $1.00 per year up to age 15. Seniors: Yuba College “Quickreg” seniors if you have completed the Yuba College Placement Test, Application & Orientation you may sign up for the Yuba College trip on Thursday, May 15th. Sign up and pick up a “field Trip” form in the guidance office ASAP. (Mr. Rasmussen)

One $1,000.00 scholarship is available for a senior who has a commitment to attend an accredited two-year or four-year institution, and can show high academic achievement. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). Stineman Family Scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship will be offered this year to a graduating senior who has demonstrated strong academic achievement, good citizenship and a positive attitude. The recipient must display a sincere desire and the academic ability to succeed in completing a post-secondary education program leading to their chosen career. Individual merit of the student will be of prime consideration, not the financial status of the student's family. Applicants must have accumulated a minimum GPA of 3.0. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). Mikel J. Moreno Scholarship. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors who will either be attending a college/university or vocational/technical school upon graduation. The Moreno/Rosser Family want to recognize graduating seniors who have been involved in athletics, shown themselves to be responsible, caring, capable of succeeding and courageous individuals. Minimum 2.0 GPA. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). WHS Faculty Scholarship. The Faculty Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who will either be attending a college/university, or a vocational/technical school upon graduation. The faculty wants to recognize graduating seniors who have shown themselves to be responsible and capable of succeeding. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). WHS Booster Club Grant. The Wheatland High School Booster Club Grant applications are available to graduating seniors who will be attending an institution of higher learning after graduation from Wheatland High School. Recipients of military academy scholarships or other full scholarships are not eligible to apply. Applicants must have a 2.01 to 3.00 GPA. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Scholarship Program. Applicant must be a graduating senior planning to pursue a Civil Engineering degree in an accredited college or university. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). Christopher Savedra Memorial Scholarship. Available to graduating seniors who have participated in WHS athletics. Minimum 2.7 GPA. Deadline: TODAY (Friday, May 9, 2008). John T. Holley Foundation Scholarship. Qualified applicants must be a minority student planning to attend a four-year college/university no later than February 15th of the following calendar year with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Deadline: TOMORROW (Saturday, May 10, 2008). SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes: High school seniors can win a $1,000 scholarship for their first year expenses at an accredited college or private career school. One winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 31, 2007 through May 15, 2008. Free to enter and eligibility not based on GPA or financial need. No purchase or transaction necessary to enter or win. Deadline: May 14, 2008. Caltrans - District 3 Scholarship Program. A $500.00 scholarship is being offered to a graduating senior interested in pursuing a career in transportation. The scholarship is competitive and based upon the applicant's commitment to a career in transportation, academic record and participation in extra-curricular or community-related activities. Financial need will be a consideration but not a primary factor.
