Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year!
My name is Jerry Zepp and I am the new Wheatland High School Booster Club
President for the upcoming year. This, by far, will be a challenging as
well as exciting year with the newly elected officers of:
Vice President – Biran Bertolini
Secretary – Sherry Freeberg
Treasurer – Jennifer Budd
We are a non-profit group that entirely depends upon various
fundraisers performed throughout the year. This year the boosters along
with the Wheatland athletic department had a very successful Forth of July week
with the fireworks stand; and, to go along with that, we will be raising funds
at the Sleep Train Amphitheater by volunteering to work during the concerts.
This earns a percentage of the profits at each concert with funds going to the
Wheatland High Booster Club as well as disbursement to each athletic group
represented as well as scholarships and grants to deserving students.
Remember, all new incoming freshmen as well as parents, Wheatland High is
your first stop for all Pirate gear with t-shirts, tank tops, jackets, and hats.
Get these soon and show your Pirate spirit! Also, now is the time to
purchase discounts passes to all sporting events - football, basketball,
volleyball and wrestling. For just $75 for 2 persons or $100 for a family,
entry into these events are covered along with your support for our high school
Booster Club. WE NEED AND APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT!
Our meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each
month at 6:30pm in the library
and are open to all Wheatland High School parents and coaches. Remember,
without your support, we could not reach our goals as well as support out
community. We boosters think that this could be the most exciting year
ever. We look forward to seeing you at the games with your PIRATE pride!!
Jerry Zepp, Booster President

Parents are needed to help the Booster's Club and Grad Nite committees
make a difference for students at Wheatland High!!
What is the WHS Booster Club? A group of Wheatland High School (WHS)
parents that meet monthly and through: fund raising, volunteerism, and event
planning, support WHS extra curricular activities. The boosters organize the
Booster Dinner, Grad Night, sports award nights, snack bars, spirit sales, etc.
Participation in the club is free, there are no membership dues. Meetings are
held in the library. Fundraising from the Booster Clubs supports: sports
programs, student leadership, FFA, drama/band, and (if approved by the Boosters)
any other school organization that applies for financial assistance.
Why should you join? The booster club is a way to stay involved in
your student's education and have a voice in the way booster money will be
spent. We understand that as parents of teenagers it becomes harder and harder
to stay abreast of what's going on with our kids. This is a chance to learn more
about WHS. Also to ensure we meet the needs of all students we need their voices
represented, through their parents, at booster meetings. This is not just a club
for "sports parents".
What will be expected of you? Monthly meetings will be held the first
Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. Grad Night meetings follow booster meetings.
Committees will be chosen to plan specific events, volunteers will be recruited
and fundraisers will be planned. You will be asked to participate at
whatever level you have time for. We understand that we are all very busy and
time is at a premium. At this point the only expectation is, that you attend as
many monthly meetings as you can. This will ensure your voice is heard, and your
vote is counted. We look forward to meeting you and hearing your ideas!
Make a difference for students at Wheatland High School. Areas where Boosters
support the quality of education at WHS:
Enrichment: Funds field trips & other needs for student clubs
& organizations.
Scholarships: Funds student grants and scholarships at graduation
time.
Awards & Trophies: Funds academic, performing arts, and
athletic awards.
Athletics: Funds needs of the athletic department not covered by
the school budget.
Booster support takes concern, involvement, and participation from parents of
Wheatland students. There is NO FEE to join! Working together with
administration, faculty, and students, we DO make a difference! If
everyone does a little, no one has to do it all.
Come to the Grad Nite meetings and help us make a safe, fun, drug and
alcohol-free Grad Nite for our graduation seniors!
It takes a lot of work, time, and effort to help create a memorable evening
for our graduates. With your ideas, donations, and help, the possibilities
are endless!
If you would like to make a donation or have helpful ideas, please come to
our meetings and share -- or drop them off in the office!!
We are in need of people willing to work concession and spirit sales for
football home games. JV and Varsity games are Friday Nights and beginning at
5:00 and 7:00. Please come to the booster meeting (or call one of the officers
above) and sign-up if you're interested.
